Cookie Recipe for Birthday on Thanksgiving Day

My friend Sandra is going to have a gala time on this Thanksgiving Day. First of all there will be family reunion to celebrate Thanksgiving as well as the birthday of Sandra's niece who will turn five on this Thanksgiving Day. So, this year besides the turkey with cranberry sauce, pumpkin pie, mashed potatoes there will be burgers and cookies and a big cake will be included into the menu.

She shared with me recipe of the Lollipop Flower Pots that she is going to make.

Ingredients:

1package (18 ounces) refrigerated sugar cookie dough
36small lollipops
36caramels
1cup chocolate cookie crumbs
Green gummy fruit slices or candy spearmint leaves

Preparation: 1. Oven is to preheated to 350°F. 36 mini (1-3/4-inch) muffin pan cups are lightly greased. Shape dough into 36 balls; press onto bottoms and up sides of prepared muffin cups. 1 caramel is placed in center of each muffin cup.
2.Bake 10 to 11 minutes or until edges are lightly browned. Cookies are made to cool in pan on wire racks. Remove to wire racks; cool completely.
3.Sprinkle 1 teaspoon cookie crumbs into center of each cookie. Flatten gummy fruit slices slightly; press into leaf shapes. Push each lollipop stick through 1 or 2 leaves as desired. Push 1 lollipop with leaves into each cookie cup.

Actually it is my colleague's birthday and I could not figure out what to give her. I am thinking of giving her a photoframe or handbag. I know it's very traditional but I can't think of anything else. Can anyone please help me with some unque birthday gift idea?

Halloween Celebrity Birthdays!

Tomorrow is Halloween and everyone is geared up for the occasion. I know someone whose birthday is also on Halloween day. So she is going to have double celebrations tomorrow! Do you know how many well known people were born on this day? I was surfing the net and got a list of the celebrities who were born on the last day of October.

John Keats (1795) English Poet
Dale Evans (1912) Actor
Peter Jackson (1961) Filmmaker
Dunga (1963) Brazillian footballer
Vanilla Ice (1968) Singer
Steve Cox ( 1974) Athelete
Justin Chatwin (1982) Actor

and many more.

Here is a poignant poem written by John Keats on birthday whose 202nd birthday anniversary would be celebrated tomorrow.

To My Brothers
John Keats
Small, busy flames play through the fresh-laid coals,
And their faint cracklings o'er our silence creep
Like whispers of the household gods that keep
A gentle empire o'er fraternal souls.
And while for rhymes I search around the poles,
Your eyes are fixed, as in poetic sleep,
Upon the lore so voluble and deep,
That aye at fall of night our care condoles.
This is your birthday, Tom, and I rejoice
That thus it passes smoothly, quietly:
Many such eves of gently whispering noise
May we together pass, and calmly try
What are this world's true joys, -ere the great Voice
From its fair face shall bid our spirits fly.
